CITY OF CHICAGO, IL by Ricardo Quintana

Sabdy and Troy hold a special place in my heart—they're not just good friends, but also beloved clients. Our journey began in Utah, but it was in Boston where I first captured their love during their engagement shoot. From there, we ventured to Colorado for their beautiful wedding. Although I couldn't be there to photograph their second wedding in Mexico, fate reunited us in Chicago years later.

Our reunion in Chicago was nothing short of magical. Starting at their picturesque apartment with its breathtaking view, we embarked on a journey through downtown, capturing moments that reflected their life in this vibrant city.

Chicago has a way of weaving itself into your soul, and it's no wonder it's one of my favorite American cities.

CHICAGO DOWNTOWN by Ricardo Quintana

This was the third time for me doing this tour, I just love the city of Chicago. Seeing it through my lens with Gabo and Jada was so much fun. We had a moody day with a bit of rain, despise that, we visited some of the landmarks of the city and, made a quick stop to get some burgers! I hope you can get a vibe of one of my favorite cities in USA.

GAY INDIAN WEDDING, CHICAGO by Ricardo Quintana

Finally I get to post this amazing wedding full of color and incredible outfits. Only the Grooms had six outfit changes, YES, six outfit changes.

I was so fortunate to have been contacted by Colin and Andrew for their wedding Indian style in Chicago, a very cool mix of cultures from Indian - American traditions. It was so great working with them and feel instantly welcome by everyone, I met so many fun and cool people during that great weekend in Chicago. Below, there is a description of Friday and Saturday, Sunday we did groom pictures in downtown Chicago.

Suggested song for this post Banno re banno meri chali Sasural Ko.

Haldi/Roce - is a fun ceremony in which a paste of ”Haldi” i.e. turmeric having medicinal values (antiseptic and cosmetic properties), sandalwood paste and, coconut milk (representing the holy spirit and also used to get glow on the face) is applied on the groom’s face and body.

Mehndi (Henna) - On the previous evening of the wedding Henna is applied on the hands and feet of the couple. Henna is a powerful medicinal herb that can prevent stress as it cools the body and keeps the nerves from becoming tense.

Alma che Jevon – Vegetarian lunch that begins with prayer and thanksgiving. Remembering the departed souls and asking for peace at home and blessing from the elders in the family. Served with a desert called Von (made from lentils /tapioca balls/cashew nuts) made specially for the meal. Food is served on banana leaf or dried leaf plate.

Sangeet - Night before the wedding to drink, lots of dance! This was so much fun, I learn some moves and marveled by the groom’s talented friends.

Saturday

Wedding ceremony – customized wedding ceremony - Entry of groom with lamps, then a readings from scriptures and blessing from parents taking vows and pheras (seven rounds around fire).

Formal Reception - dinner, speeches and dance.
